Waste

Here's the translation of your text:

Aix-Marseille University's "WASTE" strategy is based on the paradigm of "3Rs":

Reduction – Reuse – Recycling.

Coming soon...
A waste collection center monitored by dedicated staff during specific time slots is expected to be launched on the existing platform in a few months.

Selective sorting stations located in each department will be implemented by the end of 2025, replacing individual office bins.

Where to recycle my paper?

You can recycle paper in designated cardboard boxes provided in the iSm2 services (BIO OCEAN market). Ensure that the paper is not contaminated by food or other non-recyclable substances.

Where to recycle my batteries?

The logistics department (Contact Mr. Rederon) can recover them under its Corepile market. Used batteries can also be dropped off in collection bins located in supermarkets, hardware stores, or community recycling centers. Ensure they are placed in specific bins to prevent environmental contamination.

Where to recycle my WEEE?

Small electrical and electronic equipment (screens, phones, computers, scientific devices, etc.) can be deposited in metal boxes provided at the campus waste center.
For large scientific devices or bulk removal requests, submit a personalized assistance request through ENT under the SCIENCES category in the logistics and technical services section for the Saint-Jérôme Faculty (Moving-Removal).
Non-functional large scientific equipment must be palletized and filmed beforehand, and a ticket must be sent to the logistics department to arrange its disposal.
For equipment in contact with chemicals or biological agents (fridge, freezer, incubator...), a decontamination certificate must be provided (a declaration from the laboratory in conjunction with DHSE).

Where to recycle my archives and books?

During relocations, for example, contact AMU archivist Mrs. Barbara Sanchez-Gomez well in advance via a ticket to DAJI. For discarded books, contact Renaud Bernardin, who will connect you with the market holder. Costs will be charged to the laboratory.

Where to recycle my domestic sorting waste?

While dedicated sorting bins for food packaging, cans, and plastics are being installed, you can use containers for glass and packaging located on public roads near the campus's car entrance.

Where to recycle cigarette butts?

Team Initiatives

  • Recycling certain tips using Dutscher (Biosciences team - service 341, room #184).
  • Collecting coffee capsules with Nespresso (Stereo team).
  • Donation of clothes, dishes, and cosmetics to help people in need at the Institute (Solidarity Room, Biosciences - service 312).

Where to donate/sell furniture, materials, equipment...?

For the collection, reuse, and recycling of old professional furniture, the University has signed an agreement with VALDELIA. Although there’s no permanent bin at the site’s waste center, a bin can be provided on-site by submitting a ticket to the logistics and technical services for cases like relocations.
AMU is developing a local and online platform for donating furniture/lab benches to encourage reuse. It will be launched soon.
CNRS provides an online tool, "Material Exchange," accessible via its national intranet (CNRS Pratique/Buy). The platform "https://www.recyclab.net/" is also available.
