Obtain a CNRS account (Janus) and access CNRS digital services

Objective

This page describes the procedure for the creation and activation of a CNRS account (Janus), as well as access to the associated CNRS digital services, in particular the CNRS email service.

Obtaining a CNRS account

The CNRS account is created administratively by CNRS services after validation of your contract.

A notification is sent to the personal email address you provided during the administrative process. Please also check your spam or junk mail folder.

Until this notification is received, the CNRS account does not yet exist and cannot be activated. You must wait until the notification is received.

Activating the CNRS account

Once the CNRS account has been created, its activation must be carried out in coordination with the unit IT support service. Please contact the unit IT support.

The activation procedure takes approximately 5 minutes and includes the following steps:

  • setting a personal password;
  • configuring security questions;
  • entering a recovery email address;
  • accepting the CNRS IT charter.

CNRS Email Service

After the CNRS account has been activated, your CNRS email service becomes operational.

  • CNRS email address: firstname.lastname@cnrs.fr
  • Webmail access: https://webmail.cnrs.fr
  • Username: firstname.lastname@ods.services

The password is the one you defined during account activation.

Managing security information

CNRS account security information can be updated at any time via the Gaia portal:

  • password;
  • security questions;
  • recovery email address.

If you forget your password, click “Forgot password” and follow the indicated procedure.

If access to Webmail fails after a password reset, try using a different web browser.

Janus account and CNRS services

Activation of the Janus account is required in order to access all CNRS IT services and to allow password recovery in case of loss.

Once activated, the Janus account provides access to CNRS digital services via the Magellan portal:
